What is the best masters degree for teaching online?
My college adviser tells me that with a master's degree in adult education I will be qualified to begin teaching online community college courses in anything I took as an undergraduate. I'm wondering if it's better to specialize in a specific field to teach in. Any suggestions?

  1. Getting your masters online is perfectly acceptable if you get it from a tradition university, on your transcripts it will not list anything about getting it online. Do not enroll at one of these career colleges or better known as for-profit schools like University of Phoenix or AIU. These schools have no admission requirements and have a very bad image. Visit http://www.aiutruth.com to learn more about these schools and this website also has great information about finding a good online school.

If you find a good school that you want to attend but you think your gpa is to low, try your hardest to get a good score on the GRE. Take prep classes and read all the books that are out there. Don’t let a test get in the way of a better future. I wish you the best of luck!

  2. Online education is accredited as any physical university. Believe it or not, it is education of the future. We maybe a little skepical because its a little new. Classes are challenging and require actual studying! When I earned my B.A., I didnt read anything- just took notes in class. Online, you have to be involved. Also, physical universities are offering online classes. Its convenient for real adults with families and bills. I am taking my MPA online and I have learned more than I have in my undergrad. Really, online education is of the future, dont underestimate it- good luck.

  3. You're drifting. That's expensive. You need to take a specific test called the "Strong Interest Inventory" to determine how your interests match up with those of people already successful in their fields.

  5. What i suggest is that start off with doing some research on online colleges, as you might not know most online colleges are not accredited. Kindly consult the university which you want to ended up in ask them if they take the online college credit transfer or not. Becareful when you are searching for online colleges

Yes, employers do look at the masters you got it from due to the fact that there are many fake degrees in the market easily purchasable from these online colleges. But it still depends on the employer, what i can say is that most MNC doesn't recognize online degree

Since you are pretty sure on getting a job no harm right? what i can say as a manager with 22 people reporting to me, is that Degree or Master Degree is just a license for an interview. What makes you get the job is thru interview, experience and your communication skills (i am in servicing line) so the piece of paper doesn't bring much significiant on employment, however it does affect your pay though

  6. I am not sure if this will help you, but there is a distance program to be a Specialist in Blood Bank (SBB) run by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center in Texas. This program prepares students to sit for the ASCP SBB exam as well as the physician exam.

  8. The MBA gives you the biggest bang for the buck. In other words, you get the most money back for every dollar you spend on a MBA. So, a MBA is more valuable that a regular Master's degree.

If you're going to get a MBA, you should definitely go to a top college. As far as online degrees go, a lot of employers do not respect them. I would stay away from online universities – unless it was backed by a top university (e.g. – NYU Online, UPenn Wharton Online courses, etc.)

  9. According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, "Employers Often Distrust Online Degrees" an article that notes, "Silvia Guzman, regional human-resources manager for ProTec Building Services, likens online degrees to diploma mills or institutions that advertise on career Web sites promising to help you earn a degree in a year. . .She mentioned several universities that raise red flags for her when she sees them on résumés, including Capella University, an accredited for-profit online institution . . ."

You will find many negative comments and criticisms of Capella University, a for-profit on-line school, on the Capella Facts web site – http://www.capellafacts.org/capella_university_reviews.html
