you can "go to school" while in your pajamas, not taking a shower or brushing your teeth, and you work on it at your pace most of the time. unless your teacher ask you to come in to a school for testing (which varies). taking a public speaking class would be awseome, or so i heard, because you dont have to speak infront of all the people, just in your computer.
You can do it on your own time (i.e. you are not constrained by class schedules)
You can do it without traveling to a campus
It enables you to go at your own pace (faster/slower than average) without penalties.
All this being said, employers generally respect a degree from a traditional university more than an online one. So, if you can, attending an "in person" university or college is your better bet. But if you are deciding between doing an online school or not doing any school at all, by all means complete the online degree, it will help immensely with any future career plans you may have.
Good luck with your educational plans.

Distance learning are for people who have difficulties / choose not to attend regular classes due to various reasons. One of the main reasons though, is often because you want to study while working. Do you fall into this category?
Distance learning takes lots of dicipline – and also a certain level of maturity in taking charge of your learning. Not many people can do it, but for some it may be the only way of studying. Distance learning has lots of advantages – you can do it anytime, anywhere. You can also pace your studies according your own time. Some people do not like the confines of a classroom – distance learning is perfect for such a person.
However, if you are more of a "I need someone to teach me, and I need to discuss this new lesson with some of my buddies in a group study environment" – distance learning may not be for you.
True, in today's distance learning environment you can do collaborative studies via online discussion forums and bulletin boards – but that lacks the personal touch and the buzz of being around a group of real people "physically".
My suggestion is that if you can afford to attend a regular class, go ahead and do it. If the situation is such that you can only attend a distance learning course, then it's fine too but you might have to change the way you study and quicly adapt to a virtual learning environment – which may not be that difficult if you have the right personality trait. Good luck!
There are huge disadvantages with online education.
School is not only there to teach you subjects. School also helps you develop social skills. You learn how to interact with other people in your classes and during lunch. This will also be important for you when you are done with your education and get a job. You will have to meet people at your work and here your social skills from school are important.
Another disadvantage of online education is that you don't learn how to meet at time.
This might sound stupid but it is actually true. When you go to school, you learn how to wake up early in the morning and get ready for school. You learn how to get to school in time so you won't get late.
This is extremely important for your job when you are done with your education. You cannot get late for work or else you get fired. If you don't learn how not to get late during school then this might become a problem for you when you get a job.
